Dear Friends of Safe Harbor,

I wanted to take a moment to send you a warm and heartfelt, “Thank you” to all of you who participated in our recent Virtual Fundraising Auction. As you may know, we had to cancel our 25th Anniversary Gala due to the coronavirus outbreak and your support of the virtual auction helped make up some of the loss of having to cancel our biggest fundraiser of the year.

During the unprecedented crisis, we are now experiencing, be certain that Safe Harbor of Chester County is doing everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to help ensure the safety of our residents, staff, and community. We have had to temporarily alter the way we provide our life-sustaining services to manage safety concerns, but we remain deeply committed to our mission of providing housing, food, and support to both the homeless men and women in Chester County and our surrounding community.

And we need your support…

You know that Safe Harbor offers shelter for homeless men and homeless women along with providing meals, laundry, showers, and support services. Even during this pandemic, Safe Harbor will continue to be the lighthouse in the storm for those homeless individuals we are able to serve. In addition, we are a vital provider of meals, and food for the food insecure and are tirelessly working to maintain these efforts in a new reality.  We know that the need for our services will only grow as the impact intensifies. Our concern is the added expense necessary to maintain this safe environment for what might be weeks or months ahead.  The costs of additional staff necessary to manage safety measures, disinfecting products to sanitize spaces, protective items for all those giving and receiving services, and the looming possibility of quarantining all add up quickly. Please consider making a much-needed contribution to Safe Harbor to help your neighbors in distress. We can’t do it without you.

Our thoughts are with the people suffering from COVID-19, along with all who have been impacted. I want to thank my dedicated staff and all the others providing essential and lifesaving services that put themselves on the front lines every day to serve our community. Following the safety guidelines, let us all take care of ourselves, our families, and stay healthy in the days ahead. We are certainly stronger when we support each other.

Warmly,

Judy Jeffords-Homitz
